I'm about to graduate, and I will definitely miss this school. The only bad thing was some of the kids here.

As a parent, I think the problem is not with the teachers... it's with the incorrigible students who are allowed to run wild and not disciplined enough. My son begged to take honors classes (he's an average student) just so he could be away from the disruptive "normal" classrooms and instead surrounded by students who are interested in learning. In my opinion, this school, and all of OPS district, caters to the below-average and low-income students and ignores the kids who behave and come to school to learn. If I could afford private school for my son, he''d already be there.

I could have written the same story as the parent responding on 7-27-12. It is an accurate view of Burke High. I also had a difficult time talking with the counselors about the situation. Their attitude was one of "get over it." My sons experience on the football field was great. Their program is well done. I wish the coaching staff could discipline the students in the "normal" classrooms.
