School Reviews
5 5/10/2010
My wife and I moved to Oakland primarily for its school system and now that my son has had 2 years (and one more to go) at Atwood I have to say that school has exceedingly caring and selfless teachers and administrators.
They've always been willing to work with and listen to any concerns my wife or I had. They've helped my son tremendously. They have been able to academically challenge him, even paring him with students in older grades in areas he is excelling at while helping him with any area (socially or acidemically) that he needs to work on.
The Principal puts out a monthly newsletter letting all parents know of the activities of the school as well as my son's teach likewise does the same with details about what is going on in her classroom.
The music and arts program is fantastic (the tribute to Eric Carle was visually stunning and the music and plays were adorable). The availablility of extracurricular activities kept at avery low cost to the parents is a huge plus. They offer Soccer, Basketball and T-Ball at the K-2 level (not sure what is available for later grades as my son isn't there yet).
The school itself is excellent and designed with students of pre-K through 2nd grade age.
I am thoroughly pleased with every aspect of this school.
